Workshop for Apprenticeship Advisors

Cap4App Workshop for Apprenticeship Advisors was held on 4 and 5 December 2017 at the premises of Croatian Chamber of Economy (County Chamber Zagreb Draškovićeva 45/I).

Workshop participants were introduced to the entire system of secondary vocational education with an emphasis on organization of work-based learning, with the aim of educating and training Advisors to work with enterprises and schools in the implementation of work-based learning at the employers.

The workshop was attended by partners on the Cap4App project and representatives of the County Chambers of the Croatian Chamber of Economy.

During the first day the participants had the opportunity to learn, discuss and reflect on the current state of vocational education while the second day participants were introduced to the apprenticeship system in Austria and Programme for mentors, which is one of the outcomes of the project Cap4App.

On the first day of the workshop mr. sc. Mirela Lekic from the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts (HOK) and Iva Tušin from the Chamber of Trades and Crafts Zagreb presented the legal framework of the apprenticeship and HOK's experience in the organization of the apprenticeship, especially the process of licensing companies and crafts for conducting practical classes and apprenticeship exercises. Adrijano Šafran from the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts presented projects under which grants are available to entrepreneurs and students, as well as criteria and conditions for applying. Andreja Uroić Landekić from the Ministry of Science and Education presented the process of verification of eligibility of employers to receive students on practical training. At the end of the first day of the workshop, Božo Pavičin, Cap4App Project Manager, presented the results of the project, the expected legal changes and the future activities of the Croatian Chamber of Economy in the VET system.

The second day began with the presentation by Philippe Gregorits of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, who presented the role of advisors at the Apprenticeship Offices, the types of subsidies that exist for entrepreneurs, the process of qualification development and mentor training programs. Then prof. dr. sc. Dijana Vican presented a proposal of implementation of the Program for in-company mentors. In the conclusion of the workshop, the Project Manager presented the elements of the Toolbox for Apprenticeship Advisors, which is one of the project outcomes.

Workshop participants gained knowledge on the system of vocational education in the Republic of Croatia: the roles of stakeholders, organization of in-company apprenticeship and practical training, incentives that exist for entrepreneurs, current legislative changes and future processes in the CCE. The skills gained during the workshop will be used by all participants in their future work.
